Maintaining the integrity of Zilker Park and raising awareness about the issues facing our environment are key missions of Austin City Limits Music Festival. Because of our fans, ACL Fest has generated over $35 million to support the numerous parks, trails and green spaces Austin has to offer through our partnership with Austin Parks Foundation. Help us continue keeping our parks green and our environment clean by pledging to minimize waste, lowering your carbon footprint and supporting sustainable businesses at the festival!

GET HERE GREEN

Why it matters:
Transportation to and from the festival is the main source of carbon emissions for the event.

What you can do:
ACL Fest works with Green Mountain Energy to offset CO2 emissions, but you can help us do more! Take the low-emission route to and from the festival. Carpool (use Uber Pool), bike, walk, or take public transportation. Check out bike rental options through our friends at B-Cycle!

REUSE MATERIALS & #BYOBOTTLE

Why it matters:
Nearly a million plastic beverage bottles are sold every minute. Worldwide, over 500 billion plastic bottles are used every year.

What you can do:
ACL Fest provides free, cool, filtered water at CamelBak Hydration Stations throughout the park to help you go refillable! We encourage fans to bring their own empty refillable water bottles.

#BYOBottle and go Plastic Free!
We are proud to join BYOBottle, a music industry campaign to promote reusable water bottles and turn the tide on plastic pollution. Recent images in the press show the shocking sea of plastic waste left behind after concerts and festivals, but momentum to promote solutions in the music scene is growing! Bring your own, EMPTY water bottle to ACL Fest to reduce plastic waste.

DIVERT IT

Why it matters:
Every year, 9 Million tons of plastic waste ends up in the ocean, a trillion plastic bags are used worldwide, and 500 million plastic straws are used a day.

What you can do:
We’ve partnered with Austin Parks Foundation on ACL Fest’s greening programs to encourage recycling and composting at the festival and educating fans on APF’s Recycling in Parks initiative. Use provided trash, compost, and recycling bins and get rewarded for going above and beyond through the festival’s Rock & Recycle Program, where you can earn a commemorative artist designed festival T-shirt, a Fairdale Bicycle, and a chance to win even more! Volunteers from Austin Parks Foundation will be available to answer any questions you may have.

SUPPORT SUSTAINABLE BUSINESS

Why it matters:
Fair trade, local, organic, and vegetable-focused items are the least environmentally damaging. Aluminum cans are more efficient to recycle than plastic bottles. Once the aluminum has been produced, it can be recycled repeatedly.

What you can do:
Seek out plant based, organic, locally sourced meal options at the festival from our list of vendors at ACL Eats and our festival Bodegas and alternatives to plastic when consuming beverages.

GET INVOLVED

Why it matters:
The issues that are facing our environment won’t stop when the music ends. ACL Cares provides non-profit and cause related organizations a platform to reach thousands of people beyond the festival.

What you can do:
Stop by ACL Cares and the Bonus Tracks Stage at the festival to learn more about how you can get involved and check out this year’s list of participating organizations and Bonus Tracks Stage Schedule here. Want to Be Part of the Festival? Check out available opportunities here.
